Kilchoman Carcavelos Single Cask Finish 18/1216 “Be a Bottler”
‘Be a bottler’ is a popular Fèis Ìle event at the Kilchoman Open Days, where visitors can bottle their very own Kilchoman whisky. In the past, this usually involved the standard Machir Bay release, but since Fèis Ìle 2018, the offer has been extended to single casks.
At the recently concluded Fèis Ìle 2026, one of the rare Carcavelos finish casks was made available on Kilchoman Day, 28 May. Each participant in the “Be a Bottler” event filled a bottle and labelled it.
As usual, the remaining bottles will be sold in the near future at the visitor centre as a Distillery Shop Exclusive Release.
The whisky was initially matured for a good five years in a bourbon barrel and was decanted into a Carcavelos wine cask on 19 May 2024 [and not on 19 June, as stated on the cask, which was incorrectly relabelled for the ‘Be a Bottler’ event], where it was finished for 24 months.
