Robin Tucek from the independent bottler Blackadder, founded in 1995, managed to acquire two Kilchoman Private Casks in 2008, even though the Private Cask programme, which had provided Kilchoman with much-needed capital for the distillery’s operations during its financially difficult early years, had already been discontinued in mid-2007.

The first of these two bourbon barrels was bottled in April 2025 to mark the 30th anniversary of Blackadder, aged 17 years. Half of the edition (114 bottles) was sold exclusively in Germany by the well-known Helgoland whisky shop Heiner’s Duty Free Shop, which also celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2025. Unlike those for the rest of the world, the bottles for Germany feature special labels commemorating the 30th anniversary of both companies.

The second cask had not developed as well and was therefore re-racked into the empty cask 194/2008…
