From 2018 to 2023, Kilchoman offered local retailers the opportunity to create customised bottlings of the distillery´s flagship whisky Machir Bay with the ‘Machir Bay Collaborative Vattings’.

Deviating from the normal cask composition of Machir Bay, which consists of 90% bourbon and 10% Oloroso sherry cask-matured whisky, retailers could choose between four different variants with slightly altered proportions for the Collaborative Vattings: 95% bourbon / 5% sherry, 92.5% bourbon / 7.5% sherry, 87.5% bourbon / 12.5% sherry or 85% bourbon / 15% sherry cask-matured whisky. As with the ‘normal’ Machir Bay bottlings, the alcohol content was 46%. The boxes and bottles in the usual Machir Bay design were labelled with an individual sticker from the retailer.

Binny´s Beverage Depot, founded in 1948, is the largest wine, beer and spirits supermarket chain in the Midwest with 45 shops in Illinois. Binny’s has frequently released exclusive Kilchoman single cask bottlings, and in 2020 it also participated in the Machir Bay Collaborative Vatting Programme with the bottling listed here, which contains 87,5% bourbon and 12,5% sherry.
