Machir Bay Cask Strength 2025 Edition

At the end of 2020 and the end of 2022, Kilchoman had already released two limited editions of Machir Bay at cask strength.

These two bottlings were very popular among whisky fans, as they showed the Kilchoman Standard Release from an even more fruity side and were good examples of how a higher alcohol content can benefit the taste of a whisky.

At the end of last year, in response to numerous requests from Kilchoman fans, Kilchoman released also the second Kilchoman Standard Release, Sanaig, at cask strength. This bottling also received an overwhelmingly positive response.

This year, Kilchoman is delighting us once again with a Machir Bay Cask Strength Release. At the end of 2024, Kilchoman slightly changed the composition of the release under the internal designation Machir Bay Evolution. With a consistent proportion of 90% bourbon and 10% Oloroso sherry casks, the sherry cask influence was increased through the use of more active sherry casks, which also resulted in a slightly darker colour. Since then, the bottling has also undergone a slight redesign. So, for the first time, we can taste Machir Bay Evolution at cask strength.

Kilchoman Founder & Managing Director Anthony Wills wrote: “One of my favourite whiskies we have released, it has everything I love about Kilchoman spirit, with a little extra punch. There will be a lot of happy Kilchoman fans seeing the Machir Bay Cask Strength back on shelves.”

The design of the bottles and packaging closely resembles that of last year’s Sanaig Cask Strength Release. The official launch date is 5 November 2025, but Kilchoman points out that it will take a little longer for the bottles to reach more distant markets.
