Winner of the first 20-year-old bottle of Kilchoman from cask No. 1 announced

Shortly before a historic milestone in the history of the Kilchoman distillery – the 20th anniversary of the first cask being filled on 14 December – Kilchoman launched a competition offering whisky lovers the unique chance to win the very first bottle of the 20-year-old Kilchoman, drawn directly from cask no. 1 (as we reported).

The prize draw ran from 18 August 2025 to 14 December 2025. Those interested could either purchase any number of tickets on the Kilchoman website (15 tickets cost £9) or request one free ticket by postcard.

The winner, chosen at random from thousands of tickets sold, has now been announced: it is Henrik Mork from Oslo, Norway. He now holds a piece of Islay whisky history in his hands – and is delighted, as his statement below shows:

“I can’t quite believe I have won such a historic bottle of Kilchoman. It was only by chance that I ended up visiting the distillery when I was on Islay. I just couldn’t resist entering the prize draw after learning the story behind Kilchoman’s unique farm distillery and seeing the stunning bottle and box on display.” Henrik Mork

Anthony Wills, Founder and Managing Director of Kilchoman Distillery, wrote: “Over the years, we’ve released three individual bottles from Cask No. 1 at three, ten, and seventeen years of age, raising over £20,000 for Scottish charities. It’s our honour to donate a portion of the proceeds from this prize draw to charities here on Islay, including RNLI and Islay & Jura Sick Children’s Fund, who play a vital role in our community.”

The bottle’s casing pays homage to the craft of traditional whisky making.  Every material has been carefully selected to create both a tactile and visual experience for the owner.  The lid, composed of layered textures, symbolises the distillery’s organic growth over the years. The box was crafted using five different production techniques, with paper sourced from another family company, G.F Smith.

Engraved on Islay, the glass bottle features a depiction of the distillery skyline and is accompanied by a personal, handwritten note from Anthony Wills, which adds a finishing touch that celebrates craftsmanship and connection.

We congratulate Henrik Mork on his win!
