Kilchoman Club Release 12th Edition announced

As eagerly awaited by Kilchoman fans at the end of each year, Kilchoman has today announced the release of this year’s 12th club bottling.

Anthony Wills and Robin Bignal, always keen to release a very special bottling for Club members, have this year opted for a Small Batch Release with Blanc de Blancs wine cask finish.

Blanc de Blancs wine casks from Champagne are known to be the latest “experimental casks” with which Kilchoman allows us to participate in the maturation or finishing of its distillate in a wide variety of cask types. Since the summer of 2023, a handful of Blanc de Blancs Single Cask Finishes have been released in Germany, the USA, Canada and Italy. With the latest Club Release, a somewhat larger circle of Kilchoman friends can now also familiarise themselves with this cask type for the first time.

The whisky was initially matured for almost six years in two ex-Buffalo Trace Bourbon barrels, then decanted into Blanc de Blancs casks in August and September 2022 and finished in these for more than 14 months.

Kilchoman founder Anthony Wills wrote: “The Blanc de Blancs casks have added layers of lemon tart, tropical fruit and aromatic honeysuckle which build on the caramel and vanilla influence of the bourbon barrels and pair beautifully with the natural salty sweetness and peat smoke of the Kilchoman spirit.  It’s a shame we didn’t fill more Blanc de Blancs.”

The 2023 Club Release is exclusively available online to Club Members on Wednesday 6th December at 12 noon Islay time and limited to one per person.  The bottles cost £70.75 + VAT and shipping.
