In December 2023, Taiwanese Kilchoman importer Richward International released a series of four Kilchoman single cask bottlings dedicated to the Taiwanese cities of Taichung, Tainan, Taitung and New Taipei. The specially designed labels each featured a landmark of the respective city.

The bottling for Taitung mentioned here is a Ruby Port Cask Finish. The whisky was first matured for nearly five years in an ex-bourbon barrel before being finished for nearly two years in a Ruby Port hogshead.

Taitung is situated close to the Pacific Ocean and is rich in natural landscapes, the most well-known landmark of which is Sanxiantai. Sanxiantai is made up of offshore islands, coral reefs and shingle coasts, and is known as “the easternmost place” in the Ami language, nuwalian. In 1987, an eight-arch pedestrian bridge was constructed to facilitate tourists’ access to the island. Because of its beautiful shape and the legendary design of the “Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea”, it has become a landmark of Sanxiantai.
