New Kilchoman Single Cask Releases for the USA announced
Five new Kilchoman single cask bottlings have now been announced in the USA for 2024.
The very active US importer ImpEx Beverages is continuing its renowned Cask Evolution Series with two new bottlings. No. 01/2024 is a 15-year-old Oloroso sherry cask full maturation. The whisky was initially matured for just over 12 years in an Oloroso sherry butt and was then transferred to an Oloroso sherry hogshead, where it was stored for a further 3 years. This is not only one of the oldest sherry cask maturations ever bottled by Kilchoman, but also one of the last remaining Oloroso sherry casks in Kilchoman’s warehouses, dating back to 2008. With two sister casks having just been released in Germany in the Sister Casks Series, the remaining stock of these old Oloroso sherry casks is said to be less than 10.
With No. 02/2024, ImpEx Beverages then presents another of the Kilchoman Sauternes wine cask finishings that are so popular in the USA, this time with an age of nine and a half years. After a good 7 years in an ex-bourbon barrel, the whisky was finished for two years in a Sauternes wine cask.

The Texan spirits chain “Spec’s. Wine, Spirits & Finer Foods” has regularly come up with Kilchoman single cask bottlings in recent years. In addition – unusually for a single customer – a number of Kilchoman Small Batch Releases and Triskele Casks Releases have even been bottled exclusively for Spec’s on several occasions. It is therefore not surprising that Spec’s is once again represented with two bottlings among this year’s new announcements.
The first release is a Calvados Double Cask Finish, i.e. after maturing for 10 years in two separate bourbon barrels, the whisky was finished in a 400 liter Calvados cask. The second single cask bottling for Spec’s will be a full bourbon cask maturation. The whisky spent 12 years in an ex-bourbon barrel from Buffalo Trace.
To mark its 40th anniversary, the well-known Chicago store Warehouse Liquors released a 10-year-old Kilchoman Sauternes finish last year. A 7-year-old Port cask finish has now been announced for 2024. Here, the finishing time in the Ruby Port cask is two years.
