Kilchoman 100% Islay Oloroso Sherry Single Cask 17/642 for The Awakening Series

On 11 and 12 October 2025, the first German edition of the internationally renowned Whisky Live fair took place in Hamburg. For this event, the organiser Kirsch Import released numerous exclusive bottlings under the name The Awakening Series, which were truly outstanding in terms of both quantity and quality.

Among them was the Kilchoman single cask bottling listed here, a 100% Islay Oloroso sherry cask maturation. Like all 100% Islay releases, it was produced entirely at Kilchoman ‘from barley to bottle’ and, with approx. 20 ppm, is a slightly less peaty whisky. It has been matured for over 8 years in an Oloroso sherry hogshead. In our opinion, it is one of the best Kilchoman bottlings from this type of cask.

Single cask bottlings of Kilchomans Single Farm Single Malt matured in sherry casks are unfortunately rather rare, but we can already reveal to our readers that, following the 14-year-old 100% Islay Oloroso Sherry bottling in the 20th Anniversary Releases Series released at the beginning of the year, Kilchoman will be offering us two more examples in autumn 2025, which show how well 100% Islay and Oloroso Sherry cask maturation go together.
