In November 2015, the American importer ImpEx Beverages had Kilchoman bottle a Small Batch Release for the United States for the first time. The designation No. 1 suggests that a series of such bottlings was originally planned, but this did not come to fruition. It was not until years later that numerous Small Batch Releases appeared in the US in the series created by Kilchoman, Small Batch Releases for Selected Markets.

Kilchoman’s distillery manager John MacLellan selected an unknown number of ex-bourbon barrels filled in January 2010 for the release. After vatting, the almost 6-year-old whisky was diluted to 46% and bottled on 16 November 2015. The bottle yield is also unknown.
