In 2025, the Kilchoman Distillery hosted the Shake the Farm Cocktail Competition for the second time. As in the previous year, the winner was allowed to select a cask of Kilchoman, which was subsequently bottled for the UK market.

Fin Stewart, who won the 2025 competition with his cocktail Purpose, selected a Carcavelos Wine Cask Finish Single Cask, the world’s first Kilchoman bottling from this rare cask type. Carcavelos is a fortified wine from the eponymous region, the smallest wine-growing region in Portugal located south-west of Lisbon. It is made from both white and red grapes and is aged for several years in 250-litre oak casks.

The whisky was initially matured for five and a half years in a bourbon barrel and was decanted into a Carcavelos hogshead on 19 May 2024, where it was finished for just under a year.

A number of bottles are now available to purchase from the distillery’s online shop at a price of £80 plus postage.
