- Anthony Wills, a former wine merchant and independent whisky bottler from England, and Mark French, who runs the Rockside Farm on Islay, develop the idea of building a traditional farm distillery on the Rockside Farm.
- On 12.11.2001 Kilchoman Distillery Company Ltd is incorporated as a private limited company into the Companies Register with Anthony Wills as Director and his wife Katherine as Secretary
