On 25 March 2025, Kilchoman announced the official launch of a new globally distributed bottling – the Batch Strength Release – as its third general release. Kilchoman founder Anthony Wills had previously spoken on several occasions about his vision of making a cask strength Kilchoman bottling permanently available to whisky lovers. These plans were realised in the form of the Batch Strength Release.
“At 57% vol., Batch Strength is a giant of a dram, it has a raw intensity, that I love. But importantly, that power is balanced by a delicacy and finesse that speaks for the quality of our production processes in the stillhouse and also the quality of casks used for maturation,” Anthony Wills, Kilchoman Founder.

In future, bottling will be done in individual batches that differ slightly in their composition. The batches will always be bottled at an alcohol strength of 57% abv, i.e. after vatting the individual casks, the alcohol content will be slightly diluted to this uniform value. Consequently, although somewhat unusual, Kilchoman does not refer to the bottling as Cask Strength but as Batch Strength.
Approximately 20% charred wine casks (initially STR casks, but possibly also normal red wine casks in the future), around 10-15% sherry casks and 65-70% ex-bourbon casks are used for the batches. In contrast to the other two Kilchoman General Releases of similar age Machir Bay and Sanaig, where a consistency of the individual batches is at least aimed for, the Batch Strength Release in the future – also due to the different availability of suitable casks – should differ quite subtly.
Three major 2025 marketing tours in Europe, Asia and the USA focused on the new Batch Strength Release. An exclusive tour edition was also sold during the tours, which differed only in the design of the labels and the box, but not in the content.
