2020/05/12 – Cognac Finish Single Cask 980/2014

After Kilchoman had released an exclusive online shop release in mid-April with a Madeira Finish Single Cask, today, May 12th, with a Cognac Finish Single Cask, the second highlight from Kilchoman’s 3rd online tasting with Anthony and James Wills on April 3rd, 2020, followed. Our hope expressed when announcing the Madeira Finish Single Cask that it would not be the last online release in times of the closed visitor centre was therefore quickly fulfilled. However, unlike its predecessor, the Cognac Finish Single Cask was sold out within one day. This may be due on the one hand to the fact that the Cognac Release is a Kilchoman world premiere, but on the other hand it certainly contributed to the quick sellout that the Fèis Ìle Release was also supposed to be sold on that day, which brought so many visitors to the Kilchoman site that the system collapsed and the sale of the Fèis Ìle Release and Tasting Packs had to be postponed to May 14.

Distilled on 10.12.2014 the whisky matured for almost 5 years in a 1st-Fill ex-Bourbon Barrel and then in a Cognac Bossuet Barrique for 7 months. On 4 May 2020, 239 bottles with an alcohol content of 58.1% were bottled. We will soon be tasting this first example of a Kilchoman whisky matured in a Cognac barrel here!
