At the end of 2014, this Kilchoman single cask bottling appeared on the shelves of the Kilchoman Visitor Centre. The whisky was matured for five years in an Oloroso Sherry Butt.

The Oloroso Sherry Butt 424/2009 was a so-called split cask, i.e. two different bottlings were made from its contents. This was not an unusual procedure in the early years of Kilchoman’s existence, especially with the 500l sherry butts.
Besides the release listed here, another part was also bottled on 29.9.2014 for the US importer ImpEx Beverages.

There are questions, as with some of the split sherry butts, again regarding the number of bottles bottled. The Distillery Shop Exclusive edition gives a run size of 680 bottles, the US edition has no bottle count on the back label. The 680 bottles are likely to be the total run for both releases, this is consistent with the approximate yield to be expected from a sherry butt of this age, depending on the Angels Share (the sister cask 429/2009, also bottled on 29.9.2014, for example, yielded 672 bottles). If the Distillery Shop Exclusive Release alone had an edition of 680 bottles, the bottling for ImpEx Beverages could only have a very small edition, and the US bottles also have a higher volume of 0.75 litres.
