New Small Batch Release “Triskele Casks – Netherlands Exclusive 2023/1” released

Since this year, Kilchoman has introduced a new name for its Small Batch Series – Triskele Casks. And so the new Small Batch release for the Netherlands is not called Netherlands Small Batch No. 4 but Triskele Casks – Netherlands Exclusive 2023/1.

Kilchoman Triskele Logo

The Celtic symbol of the Triskele, which is known to adorn every Kilchoman bottle as a logo, symbolises, among other things, the unity of three elements. As a name for Kilchoman’s small batch releases, which consist of three different cask types that together form a new unit, it is certainly not a bad choice.

The basis of the whiskies in the series of Small Batch Releases for Selected Markets, which began in 2019, is an already finished Machir Bay vatting or Machir Bay Collaborative Vatting, i.e. a whisky with 46% alcohol strength, which was previously matured for approx. 5 years predominantly in bourbon barrels and 5-15% in oloroso sherry casks. This vatting is then married with an additional special cask.

For the Triskele Casks – Netherlands Exclusive 2023/1, which was bottled for the major Dutch online retailer DrankDozijn (D12), the additional cask is once again a Sauternes wine cask. The small batch version with the addition of a Sauternes wine cask is obviously very popular with Kilchoman importers and retailers. It has been by far the most frequently bottled small batch release for 2-3 years.

Unlike usual, the proportions for the three cask varieties included are not stated here. With a standard batch of 1260 bottles, as in this case, the proportion of the Sauternes cask is 20 to 25 per cent, depending on the fill level of this cask. This means that you can assume a composition of 75% Bourbon / 5% Oloroso Sherry / 20% Sauternes or 70% Bourbon / 5% Oloroso Sherry / 25% Sauternes.

The bottles are available online at DrankDozijn for 82.95 euros each.
