In spring 2021 Kilchoman launched a new series of single cask bottlings for the British market. “The Comparison Series” is based on the concept of giving Kilchoman lovers the opportunity to compare two very similar casks with one noticeable difference, for example different barley varieties, different peating levels, different length finishes, etc.
The bottling listed here is part of Batch No. 1, consisting of two fresh bourbon barrels from November 2012, one (cask no. 719/2012) a 100% Islay whisky, i.e. made from the farm’s own barley with a phenolic content of 20 ppm, the other (cask no. 726/2012) a whisky made from malt from the Port Ellen Maltings with a phenolic content of 50 ppm.
So with two casks of the same age and cask type, you have the opportunity to directly compare the two main Kilchoman peating levels.
