With this small batch bottling, released at the end of 2018, the German importer Alba-Import pursued the intention of supporting local whisky shops. The edition was therefore not allowed to be sold online but only locally.

The release is a vatting of 4 ex-bourbon barrels, which were finished in Jamaican Rum casks for six months.

Tasting Notes

Archer:

Nose
Spicy and ashy smoke with dried fish notes and lemon. Very intense, very penetrating – and the latter in the truest sense of the word, because this smoke-lemon-Dried-fish-note is in the nose once pretty pretty firm. Sea salt and Tang, motor oil. But in addition to these heavy aromas, you can also find something lighter, such as forest honey and white chocolate. The focus of the aroma is clearly on the maritime and smoky side. 88

Taste
The continuation of the nose on the tongue: dry start with cold and ashy smoke (like an old ashtray), lemon and lime slices. Blind you could think of a young Ardbeg. There is still the sweetness of green grapes, plus some nougat chocolate and mild spices, but no note that would certainly point towards Rumfass. What only for the whisky speaks, because rum can be put on very quickly … 89

Finish
Medium long, dry, ashen and still with a lot of lemon. Even more than you could smell. 89

Whatever the rum barrel made with the whisky: the result is very good. In some places one can not avoid thinking of a younger filling of Ardbeg. This citrus ashtray, actually unique … but then to find it at Kilchoman. Like!
