Kilchoman Sanaig Private Vatting for Germany
To mark the 30th anniversary of Bremer Spirituosen Contor, a wholesaler of spirits, champagne, sparkling wine and wine, as well as a general importer of international spirits in Germany, founded in 1994, a Kilchoman Sanaig Private Vatting was released in collaboration with the German Kilchoman importer, Hanseatische Weinhandelsgesellschaft, also based in Bremen.
Created exclusively for the German market and available only through Bremer Spirituosen Contor, this bottling is characterised by a bourbon-sherry ratio in the vatting that differs from the ‘normal’ Sanaig. Instead of 70% Oloroso sherry and 30% bourbon cask influence, here it is 60% sherry and 40% bourbon, so the whisky has a noticeably less sherry-like flavour.
The bottling was first presented at InterWhisky 2024 in Wiesbaden, which took place from 15 to 17 November. The recommended retail price (RRP) is €62.49.
From 2018 to 2023, Kilchoman had already offered local whisky traiders the opportunity to create customised bottlings with the ‘Machir Bay Collaborative Vattings’, which allowed them to choose a variant that differed from the normal Machir Bay Oloroso sherry cask content of approximately 10% with either 5%, 7.5%, 12.5% or 15% sherry cask whisky. Following the discontinuation of this product line, Kilchoman now allows national importers to distribute similar customised bottlings on a case-by-case basis under the names Machir Bay Private Vatting and Sanaig Private Vatting.
