New Warehouse Exclusives at the Visitor Centre
Since April 2026, Kilchoman has been offering warehouse tastings to visitors to the distillery. These take place once a day from Sunday to Thursday in Warehouse 2, one of the four on-site dunnage warehouses, which is primarily used to store so-called ‘experimental’ cask types. Guests will draw whisky straight from the cask and explore three specially selected casks that highlight the breadth of Kilchoman flavour and the stories behind them. Even the first three casks, selected by Kilchoman’s distillery manager Robin Bignal, showed that these are not just empty marketing claims: alongside a 7 year old bourbon barrel, there was one of the still relatively rare White Port Finishings and, as the highlight – at least in terms of rarity – a Vouvray Cask Finish. As we have reported on several occasions, Kilchoman has only two casks of the latter type available.
Kilchoman also sells 10 cl bottles from these casks as “Warehouse Exclusives” in the Visitor Centre – alongside the large-format “Distillery Exclusive” bottles, these make for further lovely souvenirs from a visit to the island.

The first three casks are now almost empty, so the next three have been selected for the tastings and samples. And these are at least as spectacular as the first three. Alongside a 8 year-old fully matured STR cask, there is a Carcavelos Cask Finish – an extremely rare fortified wine from Portugal – a cask type of which Kilchoman has only a handful available – and a 100% Islay whisky from a Bourbon barrel. With the latter, you’ll be able to taste the results of the 2019 barley harvest at Rockside Farm for the very first time. We can’t wait!
