“Be a bottler” is a popular Fèis Ìle programme item at the Kilchoman Open Days, where visitors can bottle their very own bottles of Kilchoman whisky. In the past, this mostly involved the standard release Machir Bay, but since Fèis Ìle 2018, the offer has been extended to single casks.

For the Fèis Ìle 2022, the Port Finish Single Cask mentioned here was bottled. Each participant in the “Be a Bottler” events bottled four bottles, one of which – with an individual back label – they could keep. The remaining bottles were then sold in the visitor centre as a Distillery Shop Exclusive Release.

The whisky was initially matured in a bourbon barrel for just under 5 years and was decanted into a port hogshead on 13 September 2021, where it was finished for eight and a half months. As with the 2019 release, the bottling date on the label is again incorrect. All bottles were not bottled on 4 May 2022 but on 2 June 2022 – one would actually think that all those responsible would know the date of the Fèis Ìle…
