Kilchoman Uniquely Islay Series – An t-Earrach 2025 released

After a break of almost two years, German Kilchoman importer Hanseatische Weinhandelsgesellschaft Bremen has now released An t-Earrach 2025, a new edition of the Uniquely Islay series, which is distributed exclusively in Germany. Following Uniquely Islay – An t-Earrach 2020, Uniquely Islay – An Geamhradh 2020, Uniquely Islay – An Samhradh 2021, Uniquely Islay – An t-Earrach 2022, Uniquely Islay – An Geamhradh 2022 and Uniquely Islay – An Samhradh 2023, this is already the seventh edition of the series.

This time, the series features six bottlings that focus on what Kilchoman founder and master blender Anthony Wills calls ‘experimental cask types’. This important pillar of the Kilchoman portfolio is presented in some truly outstanding bottlings, with the German importer even calling it ‘probably the most exciting Uniquely Islay series to date’.

The two fully matured whiskies are likely to attract the most interest. With a Muscatel Single Cask, German whisky enthusiasts can taste the world’s first Kilchoman bottling of this cask type, while the Sauternes maturation is unusually old at just under 8 years and, we can already reveal, is one of our favourite releases in the new series in terms of taste. But the finishes are also impressive: the world’s second ever Kilchoman White Port Finish has more than twice the finishing time of the first edition, and the Calvados and Marsala finishes also boast unusually long finishing times. The series is rounded off by a 100% Islay bottling from an ex-bourbon barrel. This 11-year-old single farm single malt, produced exclusively at Kilchoman from the cultivation of the barley to the bottling, is a beautiful example of the 100% Islay range, which is known to represent Kilchoman’s claim and unique selling point as Islay’s farm distillery.
