New Kilchoman Releases in the USA in summer / fall 2023
In the USA, a whole series of new interesting Kilchoman bottlings have been released or are announced for the next few weeks.
The very active US importer ImpEx Beverages released three new single cask bottlings in its renowned Cask Evolution series. No. 01/2023 is a Marsala wine cask finish. The whisky was first matured for more than 8 years in a bourbon barrel and was then finished for 18 months in a Marsala cask.
With No. 02/2023, ImpEx Beverages presents one of the world’s very first Kilchoman Blanc de Blancs wine cask maturations and, after a recent bottling for the Liquor Store Brown Jug from Alaska (see below), already the second in the USA. Here, the whisky first matured for almost 6 years in a bourbon barrel and was decanted on 8/8/2022 into a Blanc de Blancs wine cask from Champagne in which it was finished for 11 months.
Finally, No. 03/2023 is a bourbon barrel full maturation. The whisky spent 13 years in an ex-bourbon barrel from Buffalo Trace distillery.

Further Kilchoman casks were bottled for individual liquor stores. The world’s first Kilchoman Blanc de Blanc(s) Cask Finish was announced in May 2023 for the Alaskan-based beer, wine and spirits chain Brown Jug – slogan: Alaska’s largest selection of liquor from wine, spirits and beers – and then appeared in August 2023. The whisky was first matured for almost 6 years in an ex-bourbon barrel and was then finished for 9 months in a Blanc de Blancs wine cask from Champagne.
A few days ago, a 10 year old Sauternes wine cask finish appeared at Westmoreland Liquor in Portland, Oregon. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the well-known Chicago shop Warehouse Liquors, another 10 year old Sauternes finish was released. For both bottlings, the whisky was first matured for more than 8 years in an ex-bourbon barrel and then finished for two years in a Sauternes wine cask.
Finally, for “America’s Wine Superstore®” Total Wine & More, another Marsala cask finish has been announced. This time with a finishing period of two years. Just like the two Sauternes finishes, this bottling naturally invites comparison tasting with the Cask Evolution 01/2023 bottling.
