After two good 5-year-old ex-bourbon barrels had been bottled for the Californian wine and spirits store K&L Wine Merchants in December 2013, two just under 5-year-old ex-bourbon barrels with 100% Islay whisky followed in June 2014.

In the 100% Islay production line, which is somewhat weaker peated at approx. 20 ppm, it is known that all production steps from barley to bottle – from the cultivation and harvesting of the barley to the bottling – are carried out exclusively by Kilchoman itself and justify their self-image of a farm distillery. As the whisky of the two December barrels was made from 50 ppm peated malt from the Port Ellen Maltings, K&L Wine Merchants gave its customers the nice opportunity to compare similarly aged bourbon barrels of the two differently peated Kilchoman product lines.

This is one of the two 100% Islay releases. In addition to the cask listed here, the sister cask 345/2009 was also bottled on 2 June 2014.
