Collection Itinéraires by LMDW with two new Kilchoman Releases
As it has done every autumn for several years now, French spirits retailer and Kilchoman importer La Maison Du Whisky has once again published a printed catalogue of exclusive LMDW bottlings of whisky, rum and other spirits. The first bottlings from this year’s catalogue, entitled Itinéraires (‘Travel Routes’), are now available online from LMDW.
These include two new and very interesting Kilchoman single cask bottlings. One of the first available 18-year-old Kilchoman releases from one of the few remaining casks from 2006 and a 10-year-old Pedro Ximénez sherry cask maturation.
With these bottlings, LMDW also wants to highlight some of the lesser-known landmarks on Islay. The 18-year-old bourbon cask bottling is named ‘Kilnave Chapel’ (a ruined church west of Loch Gruinart on Islay) and the 10-year-old Pedro Ximénez sherry cask bottling is named ‘Sleeping Giant’ (named after a rock formation north of Saligo Bay, clearly visible from Kilchoman, which resembles a sleeping giant). Both bottlings have been given specially designed labels that differ greatly from the usual Kilchoman look.
As with most LMDW bottlings in recent years, however, we must once again criticise the pricing: the 18-year-old bottling costs a whopping €275, while the 10-year-old PX release still costs a hefty €149.
