At the beginning of 2025, Kilchoman also filled one of its rare STR Cask Matured / New Oak Finish casks for the Taiwanese market.

Like most of these bottlings, the whisky was first matured for 5 years in a fresh STR Cask (Shaved, Toasted & Re-charred ex-red wine hogshead) and then finished for 21 months in a new cask made from Carpathian oak in a French cooperage.

Among the dozen or so Kilchoman New Oak Finish bottlings, it is one of the most balanced in terms of flavour, where the special spiciness is not yet overly dominated by tannin notes.
