Kilchoman Tasting Tour in Germany announced
As the German Kilchoman importer Alba Import has now announced, there will be a German Tasting Tour in 2013 as well – now in its fourth year. As in previous years, tastings will take place in October at specialist whisky retailers in five German cities. Whilst the previous three tours (2010–2012) were led by Kilchoman founder Anthony Wills, this time it is Kilchoman Distillery Manager John MacLellan who will be travelling around Germany. Amongst other things, he will be bringing with him the standard release Machir Bay, as well as the limited-edition bottlings Loch Gorm, 100 % Islay and the new Vintage 2007 Release.
Alba Import has released a small batch bottling exclusively for the tasting tour again. Together with John MacLellan, three five-year-old fresh ex-bourbon casks were selected and blended for the bottling named ‘Small Batch for Germany’. The whisky was then finished for three months in Oloroso sherry butts.
It was bottled at 59.4 % cask strength, without chill filtration or added colouring. The edition consists of 780 bottles.
Distillery manager John MacLellan will present the exclusive bottling alongside other Kilchoman releases and provide background information and stories from the distillery. Visitors will also have the opportunity to talk to John MacLellan in person.
