The first Kilchoman Small Batch Release for the Canadian province of Québec was released at the beginning of 2023. This was followed in May 2024 by the second bottling listed here under the new series name Triskele Casks Release.

In Canada, the distribution of alcohol is handled exclusively by state monopolies (so-called Crown Corporations). Each province has its own Crown Corporation, in Québec this is La Société des Alcools du Québec.

With the series of Small Batch Releases for Selected Markets, launched in 2019, renamed ‘Triskele Casks’ in 2023 and discontinued at the end of 2023, Kilchoman showcased its experimental side. Each individual batch was created specifically for individual export markets and demonstrated the influence of different cask types on the maturation of Kilchoman whisky.

The basis of each bottling was an already finished Machir Bay vatting or Machir Bay Collaborative Vatting, i.e. a whisky with 46% alcohol strength, which had previously been matured for around 5 years mainly in bourbon casks and 5-15% in Oloroso sherry casks. This vatting was then married with an additional special cask.

In the case of the “Triskele Casks Exclusivité Quèbec” the additional cask is a Calvados cask. The proportions are stated as 70% Bourbon, 5% Oloroso Sherry and 25% Calvados.
