A Bottle from Cask No. 1 sells for £15,000 in Auction

A bottle of Kilchoman whisky from Cask No. 1/2005 raised a remarkable £15,000 at the second edition of The Distillers One of One biennial auction series, launched in 2021, which sees distilleries from across Scotland auction rare whiskies for charity in partnership with renowned auction house Sotheby’s.

The total proceeds from yesterday’s auction, totalling £1.8 million, will primarily benefit the Distiller’s Charity’s Youth Action Fund, which aims to improve the life chances of disadvantaged young people in Scotch Whisky-making communities.

Kilchoman took part in the Distillers One of One auction for the second time. It took place at the magnificent Hopetoun House, widely recognised as one of the most beautiful manor houses in Scotland. Auctioned for the third time in Kilchoman’s history was a bottle from the first cask the distillery ever filled, offering a unique opportunity to own a remarkable piece of Kilchoman history.

The etched glass bottle is presented in a bespoke wooden box depicting the special landscape surrounding the distillery and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Kilchoman founder Anthony Wills.
