Tasting Notes

Albaron

Nose:
The sherry is immediately present, then some dry smoke and the dried fruits, dates, sultanas, plus tanned leather and a strong sweetness in the background, reminiscent of chocolate, also some red currant, there is also a hint of sulphur.

Taste:
Strong sherry, nicely fruity, cherries, the dried fruits from the nose here too, sultanas, dates, then nice dry smoke that combines with the fruit.

Finish:
Here the smoke is still present, also the fruity sherry, then at the very end a touch of tannins from the young oak.

My opinion:
I haven’t tasted a bad Kilchoman in 2016. They know how to do it by now, especially the sherry bottlings are all really good.
This is also the case here. Again, a cracker that’s fun to drink and has a lot going on, both in the nose and in the mouth. Simply awesome.

Nose:
Sweet and red, raspberry candy, caramel, almonds, tobacco, spicy smoke, dark chocolate, overall rather on the dry side, bacon, also slightly floral, after the first sip a lot of chocolate and now also lighter.

Taste:
Creamy, chocolate, sultanas, sweet, sweeter than in the nose, coffee, here a lot of sherry, dry smoke, in the mouth also cinnamon.

Finish:
More on the spicy side at the back, still chocolate, coffee, grapes, dry, ash.

My opinion:
Decent sherry Kilchoman, very chocolaty, I like it.
