The Japanese Kilchoman importer, Whisk-e Ltd, released this STR Cask Matured / New Oak Finish single cask bottling in March 2025.

This was the third bottling of a few existing casks from Anthony Wills’s finishing experiment with New Oak (formerly ‘Virgin Oak’ – we reported).

The whisky was first matured for five years in a fresh STR cask (shaved, toasted and re-charred ex-red wine cask) and then finished in a new ‘Carpathian oak’ cask (European oak from the Carpathians) for more than 18 months. The result is an exceptionally spicy-tasting Kilchoman whisky.
