Three New Kilchoman Single Casks Releases for Slovakia

Three interesting Kilchoman single cask bottlings have just been released in Slovakia: a Sauternes finish, an 11-year-old bourbon cask maturation and only the second Kilchoman Armagnac finish release worldwide. In the case of the latter, the comparison with the world’s first release, which was released in Germany in autumn 2021 within the Uniquely Islay – An Samhradh 2021 series, should be particularly interesting. Both whiskies were distilled on the same day and initially matured for the same length of time in bourbon barrels. They differ significantly, however, in the length of Armagnac cask finishing: 7 months for the first release and a full 14 months for the second. We are looking forward to the comparison tasting!

The three releases are not specially bottled for Slovakia, as can be seen from the lack of a “for Slovakia” label, but bottlings that Kilchoman produces from time to time for “smaller markets”, i.e. countries where independent releases are not yet profitable. Bottles of it could therefore also turn up in other countries.
