Two new Kilchoman Releases for Norway released

A few days ago, two new Kilchoman bottlings were released in Norway, where the distribution of alcohol is handled exclusively by a state monopolist, Vinmonopolet, similar to Sweden: the Norway Small Batch Release No. 2 and a Marsala cask finish under the name Marius Peat 2nd Edition.

.

The basis of the whiskies in the series of Small Batch Releases for Selected Countries, which began in 2019, is an already finished Machir Bay vatting or Machir Bay Collaborative Vatting, i.e. a whisky with 46% alcohol strength, which was previously matured for 3-5 years predominantly in bourbon casks and 5-15% in oloroso sherry casks. This vatting is then married with an additional special cask.

In the case of Norway Small Batch No. 2, the additional cask is a Sauternes wine cask, as was so often the case with the worldwide Kilchoman Small Batch Releases of the past two years. The proportions are given as 75% Bourbon, 5% Oloroso Sherry and 20% Sauternes.

.

Marius Vestnes is the CEO of the Norwegian Kilchoman importer, Cask Owners AS. Two years ago, he already gave his name to a Kilchoman STR Single Cask Finish. For Marius Peat 2nd Edition, he now chose one of the still rare Kilchoman finishings in a Marsala wine cask. The whisky first matured for more than 6 years in a fresh ex-bourbon barrel and was then finished for 13 months in a Marsala wine cask.
